Natural Stone Work Crafted for the Landscape

Hand-set stone walls, steps, veneers, and fireplaces with a timeless, grounded character.

Natural stone has a quality no manufactured material fully replicates. Each piece carries its own color, texture, and weight, and when it is set by hand with care, the result looks as though it has always belonged to the land.

Our stone work ranges from structural — dry-stacked walls and solid stone steps — to architectural, such as veneered columns, fireplace surrounds, and wall caps that tie outdoor spaces to the home.

  • Timeless character

Stone ages gracefully, gaining patina rather than looking dated.

  • Connection to place

Fieldstone and regional stone suit North Georgia's wooded, mountain setting.

  • Durability

Properly built stone features withstand weather and heavy use for many years.

The Work

The craft of setting stone

Good stone work is equal parts selection and placement. Pieces are sorted by size and shape, then fitted so joints are tight, weight is carried properly, and the overall pattern looks balanced rather than random. On walls and steps, the hidden work — footing preparation, batter, and backfill — is what keeps the stone where it belongs.

For veneers on fireplaces, columns, or seat walls, stone is applied over a properly built structural core. The style can range from rustic, irregular fieldstone to tightly fitted ashlar patterns, depending on the architecture of the home and the look you prefer.

North Georgia Considerations

Built for this land.

Stone pairs naturally with North Georgia's hardwood forests, creeks, and rocky hillsides, and many homes in the region already feature stone in their architecture. Matching or complementing existing stone helps new work feel cohesive.

Freeze-thaw cycles, while milder than farther north, still occur in the mountains. Proper drainage behind walls and appropriate mortar and setting methods help stone features hold up over winters.

Good to know: Freestanding stone walls and steps are within our scope; walls that retain significant soil or support loads may require engineering review, and gas fireplaces require appropriately licensed gas work.
