Concrete Work Built on Proper Preparation

Slabs, walkways, and decorative concrete with careful subgrade preparation and clean finishes.

Concrete is one of the most practical materials on any property — and one of the least forgiving when it's done poorly. Cracking, settling, and pooling water usually trace back to what happened before the pour: subgrade, base, reinforcement, and joint planning.

We approach concrete as craftsmanship, giving equal attention to the preparation you won't see and the finish you will.

  • Durable surfaces

Appropriate thickness, base, and reinforcement for the intended use.

  • Controlled cracking

Thoughtfully placed control joints guide where concrete naturally cracks.

  • Refined finishes

Broom, smooth, stamped, stained, or exposed-aggregate options.

The Work

Concrete done right, from the ground up

Every concrete project starts with the subgrade. Soft soils and organics are removed, the area is graded for drainage, and a compacted aggregate base is placed. Reinforcement — wire mesh, rebar, or fiber — is chosen according to the slab's purpose, whether that's foot traffic, a hot tub, or a vehicle.

During and after the pour, finishing and curing matter. Joints are cut or tooled to manage shrinkage, the surface is finished to the selected texture, and the slab is allowed to cure properly. Decorative options such as stamping or coloring can give concrete the look of stone or a custom, contemporary finish.

How Flatwork Comes Together

North Georgia Considerations

Built for this land.

Clay soils common across North Georgia can shift with moisture, and sloped lots concentrate runoff. Grading, base depth, and joint layout all need to respond to those site conditions.

Summer heat affects how quickly concrete sets. Scheduling pours and curing practices around weather helps achieve a better finished surface.

Good to know: Concrete naturally develops some hairline cracking; good preparation and joint planning help control it but cannot eliminate it entirely. Structural foundations and load-bearing elements may require an engineer's design.

Our Full Process
  1. 01

    Consultation

Purpose, size, finish and access are discussed.

  2. 02

    Site Assessment

Grade, drainage and soil conditions are reviewed.

  3. 03

    Preparation & Forming

The area is excavated, base compacted and forms set.

  4. 04

    Placement & Finish

Concrete is placed and finished to the selected texture.

  5. 05

    Curing

The slab is protected while it gains strength; timing varies with weather.

  6. 06

    Final Walkthrough

We review the work and share when it can carry foot and vehicle traffic.
